What to Expect When You Start Financial Planning:
Your Path to Becoming a BFC Client
Starting financial planning often feels like a bigger step than it actually is. Many people know they want more clarity around their finances but aren’t sure what working with a financial planner truly involves.
At Balanced Financial Concepts, the process is intentionally structured, not rushed, so you can understand each step and decide how you’d like to move forward.
First Meeting: Getting to Know Each Other
Every relationship begins with a conversation. The first meeting is about understanding your goals, your questions, and what prompted you to explore financial planning. You’ll receive our Financial Snapshot ahead of time to help guide the discussion. You don’t need to bring anything, though many clients do, and it often helps prepare for what comes next.
Adviceworks & Your Roadmap
After completing your Financial Snapshot, you’ll be invited to Adviceworks - your secure financial dashboard. This is where documents are uploaded and your initial Roadmap inputs are completed. If digital copies aren’t available, we’re happy to scan and return documents for you.
Financial Consulting Agreement
At this stage, you’ll have a clear understanding of our process and can decide whether to move forward. There’s no obligation, just an informed decision.
Results & Observations
We review everything you’ve provided and begin identifying priorities. This helps focus conversations on what’s working well and what may need attention.
Your Roadmap Comes Together
You’ll see your financial plan take shape through a first draft, followed by refinement and discussion. The final Roadmap reflects where you are today and where you’re headed, with clarity and intention.
After the Plan Is Complete
From here, the level of support is your choice:
Use the plan independently, with reviews as needed
Choose ongoing financial planning guidance
Opt for active portfolio monitoring and asset management
When you’re a client, it’s about more than money. It’s about having a strategy that fits your life — and the flexibility to adjust as life changes.
