Your First Meeting

Your First Step Toward Financial Balance

Prepare for your first meeting with a simple overview of what to expect, what to bring, and how we can make the conversation productive.

Preparing for Your First Meeting with Balanced Financial Concepts

Your first meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know you, understand your goals, and begin identifying the financial questions that matter most to you. You do not need to have everything figured out before you arrive. Our goal is simply to start with clarity, conversation, and a solid understanding of your current picture.

The BFC Pathway

We hate surprises and believe in making sure all clients know where we’re going before we get there.

The BFC Pathway shows you our path forward and what to expect moving forward should we decide to continue this financial planning journey together.

How to Make the Most of Your First Meeting

In this meeting we'll get to know each other, review your completed Financial Snapshot, explore if we’re a good fit, and help you prepare for what comes next.

Come prepared to talk openly about your goals, questions, and concerns. You do not need perfect records or complete certainty. The most helpful thing you can bring is an honest picture of where you are today and where you would like to go.

DOWNLOAD Your First Meeting DOCUMENTS

Here are some quick answers to a some questions you might have before your first meeting:

What documents do I need to bring with me to the first meeting?

You’ll receive a link to complete your Financial Snapshot in your confirmation email. It’s a simple way to help you prepare and gives us a helpful starting point for our conversation. You don’t need to bring anything to the first meeting, but many clients find it helpful to have a few documents on hand. If you have them, feel free to bring them - if not, we’ll guide you on anything that may be useful after we meet.

What if I’m not sure what questions to ask?

That’s completely okay. The first meeting is designed to help you think through what matters most and identify the questions that are worth asking. We’ll guide the conversation and help you clarify your goals along the way.

Will I receive financial recommendations at the first meeting?

The first meeting is primarily focused on understanding your situation and getting to know one another. We may share a few initial observations, but any recommendations are typically part of a more detailed planning process. If there’s something specific you’d like to discuss, you’re always welcome to ask.

How long is the first meeting?

Most first meetings are scheduled for about an hour. Depending on your situation and the conversation, it may be slightly shorter or longer. Our goal is simply to allow enough time to have a meaningful discussion without feeling rushed.

Can I attend with my spouse or partner?

Yes — we encourage spouses or partners to be part of the process, especially if financial decisions are shared. If they plan to attend, just let us know so we can plan accordingly.

What's the next step after our first meeting?

After our first meeting, we’ll provide you access to AdviceWorks, where you can securely upload any relevant documents. From there, we’ll take time to review your information and begin organizing your financial picture. We’ll then walk through our observations and next steps together at your next meeting.
